[Opinions] Johannah
Does Johannah look weird to you? I like Johanna too but heard many people pronounce it like Joanna. I don't really get how people thought of pronouncing it like Joanna. I mean you don't pronounce Hanna like Anna, do you? Any explanations? Just curious.Would you pronounce Johannah like Jo+Hannah or like Joanna?
Johannah or Johanna?
Joanna or Johanna, Johannah? (the latter two pronounced like Jo+Hannah)

It works. The English have been known to drop h sounds in various words, so it may have been used as an alternate sp. for Joanna and stuck accordingly... would have to check that though.
Johannah I'd prn jo-hannah.
Johanna I might ask about.
My preference of these is Joanna, but Johannah is acceptable too. Johanna is potentially confusing... My fave though is Johanneke, but that has a dif. sound for the j (like a y) and different ending (uh-kuh).

I like Johannah, and I prefer that spelling to the others. It makes it easy to pronounce and clears up any confusion that people might have. I also think it looks more complete with the 'h' on the end.

I like both Joanna and Johanna. I prefer Joanna a tad more, but not by much. I definitely prefer Johanna over Johannah. Johannah looks strangely cluttered with letters. I'm not sure why, since I don't think Hannah looks so overwrought and Jo, of course, is as simple as can be.Would you pronounce Johannah like Jo+Hannah or like Joanna?
Neither, really. I pronounce Hannah like HAN-ɘ, but jo-HAHN-ɘ would be my first impulse for both Johannah and Johanna. I sometimes work with a Johanna, and that's how she pronounces it, so I'm used to it. jo-HAN-ɘ would be my second guess (although I don't think it's nearly as pretty), and I'd never pronounce it like Joanna unless told to.

Not at all. I don't know why Johanna would be pronounced like Joanna either. I've never actually heard it said that way except in Sweeney Todd. I'd except more people to misprnounce it as yo-HAHN-a if anything. I had a good friend all through school named Johanna, prn. Jo + Hanna. I've gone back and forth on whether I prefer Johanna(h) or Joanna. I like them both a lot, so it just depends on the day!

I've met Johannas that go by Jo-Hannah and ones that go by Jo-Anna so it's kind of one of those names I wait until it's pronounced before I say it. Personally I like the sound Jo-Hanna more but I don't really like the spelling Johannah much, looks too much for a name like that. I would just go with Johanna, looks neater I guess.
