I think Jodie seems more feminine, so I like it better for a girl. And for a boy I'd spell it Jody. It does seem nicknamey, but since it isn't I get over it. I know I've met plenty of Jodies, but the only one I can think of off the top of my head is a friend from college, who spelled it Jodi.
