[Opinions] Maxine
Always had a soft spot for Maxine but lately I really fell in love with it. I also like the nn Max for a girl. What do you think of Maxine? Mostly called by her full name but sometimes Max? Do you think it's to dated or trashy like many -ene names?

I like it, it's fun. The only one I ever met also went by Max sometimes.
It has a got a sort of 50s diner waitress thing going on, but that's fine. I like Francine and Nadine, too.

I'm not crazy about it, or Max, for a girl. But my aunt's name is Maxine and she goes by Mackie, and I think it's pretty cute.

Yes, it's very dated. Dated and downmarket. And Max as a nn is so stereotypically "self-conscious tomboy." Whereas Sam for Samantha, Bobbie for Roberta, Dani for Danielle seem natural and uncontrived, Max for Maxine, Frank for Frances and Mikey for Michelle just scream "Look at me! I'm the heroine of this new kids' book! I sneer at girly girls and I never want to grow up! I'm thirteen and I still want to make mud pies! I throw a fit if I have to take a bath!"

The only Max- name that I like is Max on its own, but Maxine is okay. I don't find it trashy or especially dated, and it's one I wouldn't mind seeing on someone else's child. Max is a cute nickname.

Loooove! She's spunky, quirky, old-fashioned yet somehow modern, if that makes sense. I'm honestly surprised she's not more popular!

I also just noticed this in a post a few days ago, I think it was listed on an Australian BA.I think it's really cute, and pretty spunky! I think it's my favorite of the -ene names, and by favorite, I mean the ONLY one I like, haha!I like the nn Max for a girl, as long as it's balanced out with the full, more feminine Maxine, like you said.I don't think it's dated. It doesn't have much of an era association for me. Really cute though!

Oh my goodness! I was just watching an episode of House in which the parents named their newborn daughter Maxine nn Max. I thought it was a quirky (in a good way) choice. It was really refreshing, I thought. I don't find it dated or trashy, but I don't really find too many -ene names to be trashy in general.

I like it enough. I wouldn't mind seeing a little Maxine running around. Might be kinda refreshing.

Give her the feminine option of Maxie as well as Max for a nickname but otherwise I'm ok with it

Nope, no Maxie. I mean I know I can't influence it later on but I sure won't call her that. Maxi pads :/
