[Opinions] Meadow or Willow? (more)
Meadow or Willow for a girl and why? can you put your answer in the subject line and explain in the message?Oh and do you think they are too similar for sisters? They are my favorite names right now. Personally I don't think they're too similar as the only think they have in common (sound wise) is that they end in an o sound. Mead and Will sound completely different. To me they're not any more different than Anna and Lila, for example. Ok they are both nature names but I only have nature names on my list at the moment anyway. WDYT?And if you think they are too close, do you think they're horrible for sisters like Brandy and Mandy or fine like Sara and Nora, a bit too similar for your tastes and fine for someone else? Thanks!

Willow...because I could use Will and Willa as nicknames if I wanted to, and I slightly prefer the -low ending in Willow to the -dow ending in Meadow. Petty reasons, I guess. I genuinely like both names, and it was hard to choose. Willow and Meadow are too close for sisters for me, both for their "O" endings and because I can only take one nature name per sibset before I find it hopelessly corny, but it's fine for someone else.

WillowI don't understand the attraction to Meadow. I don't like it at all. But they're not too similar to be sisters - seems a coherent sibling set, actually.

MeadowI had a friend at primary school called Meadow, so I have a soft spot for that name now. Willow is nice too, but I prefer Meadow. I do think they are a bit alike for sisters, just in that they are quite theme-y. I don't think they're horrible, I just wouldn't use them together personally. I would probably go more for something like Meadow and Willa.

Willow because Meadow is like calling a person Grass. Or Paddock.
Yes, I think they are too similar for sisters, unless you want a whole nature thing going.

I think they sound very theme-y. Not too similar, but definitely planned. I like both names, but i like Meadow more.

Depends on the family name and what you pair them with...However, in general, I'd lean towards Meadow... Willow is one I haven't really adjusted to seeing as a people name yet. They may be a tad bit close for sisters, but you could still get away with it probably.

MeadowIt's prettier. phonetically and visually. Meadow is like a rainbow! M is pink, E green, A yellow, D ligher green, O light blue, W lilac. It's almost Lisa Frank ish.Willow has got a lot of unvivid letters and is muted and purple.I think Med is prettier than Wil. It's brighter, more fantastical, less dramatic.I really like both names.I wish more people approved of the sisterset. I think it's pleasantly matchy but not over the top. I'd really like to meet a Meadow and a Willow sisterset and if I loved the names enough would be happy to use them. The phonetics don't bother me at all.

WillowMeadow just doesn't sound like a name.

WillowMeadow seems too airy fairy as a name for me. Like the parents were high when they decided to name their baby. Willow sounds more substanial and will age better in my opinion

Willow.I don't like Meadow as a name at all. It just doesn't appeal to me. I do like Willow somewhat - I wouldn't use it but I don't mind seeing people named Willow. Meadow and Willow have the same ending sound and are matchy, but they aren't too similar - as in, I don't think people will be mixing them up because they can't keep the names straight. I personally wouldn't use them together even if I did like Meadow, unless one was a MN, because I don't really like matchy names. I think it's a little too much, especially if there might be future siblings with nature names.

MeadowMeadow is super sweet, and I've never cared for Willow. Pretty easy decision for me, though there isn't much rhyme or reason.Having a Meadow and a Willow is a little much in the hippy department for me. I think the difference between Meadow and Willow vs Anna & Lila is that -A is a common sound at the end of words/ names, whereas -O (especially on girls) is uncommon and really catches peoples' attention, so two -O names stick out more together than two -A names.
They're less cringe-worthy than Brandy & Mandy, but aren't along the same lines as Nora & Sara (I think that's just the feel of the names, though).
I'd equate them to Harper & Piper, maybe? The -O ending sounds makes them seem very similar. Something like Willow & Margaux would be less noticeable because 1) the spelling, and 2) it's WILL-o and mar-GO so the stress is different, too. Meadow with the stress on the first syllable makes them more rhymey.

WillowI like both, but I prefer Willow mainly because I think it ages better. It seems more mature to me than Meadow does. Willow is slightly playful sounding, yet the willow tree association gives it depth. I think of reflectiveness, solitude, etc. when I think of willow trees. On another note, I like how Meadow is less popular than Willow. Willow still wins, though.I would avoid using them for sisters. They are too close for first names, but you could use one as a first name and the other as a middle name. That would work.

Willow because I'm not at all familiar with Meadow as a name, and this is making me curious - is it a familiar name in the US?eta - is there a celebrity Meadow, or something? Where did it come from?

No, it's just an uncommon nature name. Like Rain or Sky.

The pop culture association is with Meadow Soprano. (aaaaaaaaaand meadow thayer on sims) but it's not exactly a widespread one.

I think most people haven't heard of Meadow Soprano. I know the show was super popular, but I don't know of anyone who has ever seen an episode of it, which is weird. I only watched two episodes and the Meadow character made a short appearance.

Yeah that's why I said it's not widespread.

I like them both but I prefer Meadow. I do think that they are a bit similar for sisters because they end with the same sound and a nature themed.

MeadowBecause I don't really like how Willow sounds. Willow sounds like the masculine name Will, which is very strong and masculine, with an O stuck on the end. So Willow sounds not pretty and unfeminine to me. I have the same problem with Willa.Meadow has a pretty sound. Willow and Meadow are rather puky for sisters because of the nature theme.

MeadowI've developed a liking for Meadow recently. I've never really seen the appeal of Willow. It always reminded me of someone differentiating between two Wills ("No, Not Will O., I mean Will K.")I do think they're too similar for sisters in general. They've got a definite nature theme, matching endings and then they're both two-syllables. The two-syllable thing isn't normally an issue but when they have the same ending it's too much.

WillowMeadow is too much of a word for me to think of it as a name. Maybe in ten years' time if it catches on more, I'll feel differently but for now, I can't take it seriously as a first name. Willow has grown on me a lot recently. I like the imagery of willow trees as well.I would say Meadow and Willow are too similar as sisters, for my liking. They're both nature names and both have the same sound at the end but not as matchy as Brandy and Mandy. Fine on someone else's children.

Meadow.I'm so sick of Willow.Yes, I think they are too similar for sisters. Too theme-y.

MeadowWillow is okay but it is quite trendy at the moment and the imagery from Meadow is so much nicer to me. I think they are too close to sisters...as much as I would say Willow and Margot are too close- the same ending is enough for me, especially when there are no obvious nicknames that differentiate them. Also, the fact they are both unusual naturey names with the same ending makes them very similar to me.

Thanks! I actually don't think Willow and Margot are too close either :P
