I know! Sylvie is such a board darling right now. I'm a convert from Sylvia myself. ;)

And with good reason. It is gorgeous. I'm hoping this board popularity doesn't make the jump to real life popularity...kinda nervous to see if it ends up on this years SSA.Sylvie is my Lucy replacement. I always wanted a Lucy, my mum used it for her cat, tried to find a less popularr similar sounding alternative, hit upon Sylvie and fell head over heels. I've never really been able to get into Sylvia myself.

yeah I don't like it. I mean that Sylvie has become a darling, lol. It too makes me fear some real life popularity jump

Yeah. it just seems to me like it has a lot of those factors that make up a lot of the top names these days- two syllables ending in -ee, short and sweet, that ever popular y, just old enough to be fresh again, with that slightly exotic foreignness to add to its appeal. It reminds me of Lucy and Ava and Lily and Ella and Sophie...it has that similar sound and feel and I can see it appealing to people who love those kind of names but want to avoid the popularity.Fingers crossed it stays under the radar!
