[Opinions] Aimee
WDYT? I don't like the Amy spelling nearly as much as Aimee but I'm also afraid that one might come across as juvenile or trendy

It's ok w/ me. Not a fave name necessarily, but a nice change from current trends.
I was at school with someone whose mother was an Aimee. We all found it very pretentious.
Aimee isn't a trendy version of Amy, it has been used pretty frequently over the years.
I don't like Amy or Aimee, the name is just so bland and blah, like Sarah or Mary. But if I was going to use it I would use Amy, I have a friend named Aimee who is in her thirties and she has always had to spell and respell her name; plus there are so many other Amys and Aimees her age that it was doubly hard for her to keep people straight on how her name was spelled.

Well you and I know it's not a trendy version but I'm thinking more about non-namenerds in this case. I always thought it was sort of blah too but it was a really sweet quality that's growing on me. And actually I've only met a handful of Amy's in my life whereas I've met about 20 or more Sarahs
My niece is Aimee Elisabeth. My sister liked the French spelling and chose the French spelling of Elisabeth to complement Aimee which is pronounced like Amy. It's okay. I find it dated and odd on my niece who was born in the 90s. Took awhile for people to catch on to the spelling too. I don't see it as juvenile -- perhaps trendy at one time. As you can tell, I don't love it nor do I hate it.
I prefer the Aimee spelling as well. I used to dislike it, but now I think it's pretty.
I actually like Amie best for several reasons. I don't think Aimee feels juvenile or trendy, just French. I know someone named Aimee and she's nice, so no ruining of that spelling for me. I think it actually has a warmer feel to it than Amy, which feels sort of bubbly and dated.
I didn't like Aimee until I saw, "Wives and Daughters." One of the minor characters is a French woman named Aimee. When I heard it pronounced the French way I fell in love with it.
I don't mind the Aimee spelling with the English pronunciation. I don't find it juvenile or trendy. I just prefer the Amy spelling because of Amy Robsart (sp?) and Queen Elizabeth I of England. Real life soap operas are so much more interesting to me than fictional ones.

I've never been much of an Aimee/Amy fan in general either but I'm watching "Friday Night Lights" (the series) right now and one of the actress' names in Aimee (Aimee Teegarden) and she's just so cute the name has grown on me more -it probably helps that her LN is Teegarden :)
