[Opinions] Abel

I like it. It's not too common, but still usable. It's tied to the biblical story, but still usable. Cain on the other hand....

I really like it. Yeah, it's tied to the Biblical story, but not like Abel was the bad brother. I think the reason it isn't more common could be because it sounds like "able." But there are plenty of names or nicknames that sound like random words and no one ever cares, so maybe not. Never heard of Trinity Blood, but if anything else it also makes me think of the book Kane and Abel. Also not a bad association.
I have some Abel combos, but I totally would take them a different direction now than I did when I first made those combos. But anyway, they're:
Abel Brendan
Abel Crispin
Abel Geoffrey
Abel Warren
...yeah I don't really like any of those anymore. Maybe the last one.

I like it a lot. It's been growing on me for the last couple of months. I would actually go as far as to say that I can see myself using it in real life. I like it pronounced both like the word able and like ah-bel.
I'm not religious at all and it doesn't matter to me that it is a Biblical name. I would use it anyway. People might think I used it for religious reasons but if they do, it won't bother me.

Naturally people will associate Abel with the Biblical namesake, but there are so many Biblical names used these days. I think it's a great name and I'm surprised it isn't more common tbh.
Yeah, I didn't realize that it is getting more popular. It's still pretty far down the chart though. It's definitely no Mason. Haha.
Abel is very usable. It's #237 now, up from #293 in 2010. Abel was a good character in the Bible, so I don't think it matters if people think of that.
From you PNL:
Abel Constantine
Abel Conrad
Abel Desmond
Abel Finnian
Abel Jonathan
Abel Josiah
Abel Matthias
Abel Kentigern
Abel Somerled
Abel Theodore
Abel Sebastian

Wow, I had no idea Abel was gaining such popularity. :) That's very cool.
Thanks for the combos! Since they are from my PNL, I love them all.

I think Abel is strongly associated with its biblical story, but that story doesn't make it unusable. I wouldn't use Cain (at least not spelled like this), but I wouldn't be afraid to use Abel. I like it quite a bit.
Oh, I know. I was just wondering if people thought it was "too Biblical" if that makes any sense. :)
I don't think its too Biblical, its rarely used so isn't very common. I have heard people use Cain or various spellings of Cain way more often and all I can think is "you named your kid after a murderer?" so I much much prefer Abel.
The only problem that I can see is the Able Abel confusion. I suggested it too my husband as a possible name for our baby and the first thing he said was " are you able Abel?" which vetoed it for us.
