[Opinions] Re: Savannah
in reply to a message by Lily
I like it alright. I am not that into it, I think because of the city, and also slightly for the reason I don't care for Vanessa: the "van" part makes me think of "vanity." It's a nice name, though.I think I like Savanna better than Savannah because to me, it evokes the image of an actual savanna, more than of a city in Georgia. It does have a middle-class or ruralish or Republican sort of image, what some people would call downmarket or even trashy - similar to names like Jasmine and Alyssa and Amber, not as much as Destiny and Sierra but a little bit. I don't know exactly why I have associated it vaguely this way - I guess because of its overall style. ?? It does not cause me to like it any less, and I would not be really surprised to find a Savannah among the children of liberal professionals, either. w/e. Just saying.

haha one of my professors actually has a daughter named Savanna. He teaches macroeconomics. He brought her to a seminar a few weeks ago and she was so cute that I fell in love with the name. I never cared much for it before. She also made me think about spelling it without the H. The names have very different images, Savannah is a southern belle and Savanna seems more modern.I agree that it may have a bit of a downmarket image. I don't think of that at all, to me it's a bright and happy name but I can see how some people might see it that way. I also agree that it is similar to Jasmine, Alyssa and Amber that way.
