[Opinions] Opal or Pearl
Any opinions on these names? What do you prefer and do you see any potential problems with them? Any similar suggestions, doesn't have to be gemstones, but names with a similar feel? Any combos?

Opal
I like both of these names but I prefer Opal. It's elegant and spunky.
The names Opal, Pearl, Beryl, Garnet, Ruby, Lily, Iris, Violet, Rose, Grace, Eve and June always remind me of one another. They all feel a bit retro, have a classic elegance to them and they are cute and fresh.
Though Grace and Lily are not fresh since they are so popular. Ruby is less fresh if you are living in a part of the world where it is popular. It's not popular in the US.

I think both names are great, though I'd only use Opal as a mn I think. Pearl I like for either a fn or a mn.
Oh my goodness I love both these names. They are so beautiful! I think I like Opal the best.
Suggestions:
Odette, Paloma, Ira, Lux, June, Essie, Grace, Rosa, Selene, Belle

I love Pearl, for its elegance and simplicity. I love it as a fn or a mn. Opal, not so much, because in the US at least, it's very close to the name of a car--the Opel, pronounced the same way. I think Coral has a similar feel to Pearl and Opal.......
I don't like Opal and I do like Pearl. Opal just seems tacky to me, while Pearl has retro charm. Also, I guess I just like the way that Pearl sounds and don't like the way that Opal sounds. I hope that Pearl makes a comeback.
I don't think either name is especially problematic, and I really like them both. I prefer Opal, but only slightly and only because I love that long O.

I like Opal best, but Pearl reminds me of the cute little girl from the Ace Attorney series.
I prefer the way Pearl sounds, but Opal would be less expected and, therefore, more interesting. I'd love to meet a little girl named Opal. I'd also be thrilled to be a little girl named Pearl. I don't see any problems with either name.

I love Opal, I always thought it was a shame that it hasn't been as popular lately as Ruby. The only problem I can see with it is that some might want to call her Opie, which is goofy, but even then I don't think it's a huge problem.
I always think that Opal and Irene have the same feel to me. They both somehow remind me of cool, clear blue water.
I don't like Pearl, it has a strong hillbilly vibe.

Though I love the jem opal, the way I pronounce it, unless I'm thnking, tells against it...I tend to say "opul".
