in reply to a message by Lily
I think the name is stronger than Diane, and I like the mythological and astronomical associations.dye-OH-nee

I think people will mispronounce Dione as dee-ONN. I only associate it with the Clueless character and Dionne Warwick and I always thought of it as tacky, to be honest.

It's one of the moons of Saturn and also the mother of Aphrodite in Greek mythology. I'm glad I am someone whose associations exceed Warwick and Clueless. Limiting oneself to pop associations is...limiting oneself.

Oh please, most people are going to associate it with Warwick and Clueless. I know quite a bit about Greek mythology and I know it's one of the moons of Saturn but the pop association is much stronger, so the only things I think of immediately are Warwick and Clueless. Just as most people will think sneakers and not goddess when they hear Nike. I'm not limiting myself to pop associations. Wow, you're incredibly rude. Good luck trying to get people to pronounce it that way!
