Antoinette "Nettie" or any other -ette name

Magnolia "Nola"
Madeleine "Dell" / "Delle"
Jacoba "Cobie" (think How I Met Your Mother)
Margaret "Garrett" - kill me, though
Yasmin / Jasmine "Minnie"

Zenobia "Nia"
Caroline "Carlo" - I saw this a bit in Malawi
Francesca "Chessie"
Bridget "Ridge" - I have a friend named this
Juliana "Lia"

Even though I'm not a fan of counter-intuitive nicknames, many of those are sensible to me, such as Bee for Phoebe, Zanna for Susannah, Celie for Cecilia, and Nell for Penelope. Each of those nicknames are within the name, if you know what I mean. Carlo, Ridge, Garrett, and Andie just seem odd.
I am also Fee (I spell it Fi and I also use Fia). It's short for Fiammetta, and the most intuitive you can get for my name. I've seen suggestions somewhere for nicknames like Mia and Amy, which kind of baffle me. Even Etta would make more sense.

I dislike counter-intuitive nicknames but I know an Aaron who gets called Ron and an Aidan who gets called Dan. I actually don't mind these at all because even though the -ron in Aaron and -dan in Aidan don't sound like Dan and Ron the both of these names are included in the full names, completely. William nn Liam is similar.
I hate stuff like Persephone 'Poppy' or Elizabeth 'Lily'. Ugh. The funny thing is that some people who like Elizabeth 'Lily' (not here but in real life) told me Aidan 'Dan' and Mabel 'Bell' make no sense. Uhmmm yeah. I mean Aidan 'Dan' etc might not be the most logical nicknames but at least you can see where it is coming from which you can't at all with Elizabeth 'Lily' (yeah, I know, the LI is there but that isn't nearly enough. It's like Alexandra nn Andrea or something).

I don't like counter-intuitive nicknames either. Poppy and Posy as a nickname for pretty much anything drive me crazy. Nicknames like those seem too contrived. The only exception for me would be nicknames bestowed by family and friends.
Ron from Aaron and Dan from Aidan are fine, since those two names don't really have commonly used nicknames anyway. Bel or Bell for Mabel makes enough sense as well.
