[Opinions] Janine
This is the name of my ex best friend. When I first met her I didn't think she was real because I didn't think anyone could have a name that bad. It's grown on me a lot since then, but I rarely hear it. WDYT?

The second part of the name is a bit too nasally for me, but it would be unexpected to meet a little girl or even a young adult named Janine. I would be pleased.

It's a name that grates on my ears and nerves for some reason. I don't like it at all.

Lol, I don't think it's that bad, just really dated. It was my class name for 3 years in high school french. I grew so used to it that even people in my dreams would sometimes call me Janine. I prefer the Jeannine spelling, one of the rare instances where I like the more complicated spelling over the simpler one.

I like Janine ok, but I like pretty much any name that ends with "ine" :) I do prefer it spelled Jeannine though

I have a niece called that. She's a twin, her sister is Joscelyn.

I think it a unique name. I like how it is pronounced.

I like it, and also spelled Jeanine. Which is weird because it has Jean right there on display and Jean makes me cringe. I think it has that sort of pleasantly-dated feel, nice and upbeat. I went to school with a Janine who was nice, too.

It's sort of... pointy-sounding. Like knives, or shark teeth. And I feel vaguely sorry for it because it seems to attract people who want to give it really twisted spelling variations like Janeane and Genneeanne and Jeaniene. But with this simple spelling, it's okay, it could grow on me.

I really really like it. I added Jeannine as my second middle name after my father died as a way to honor him, but I was torn between Jeannine and Janine. I ended up using Jeannine because at the time it seemed more complete, but now I'm not sure. It's a sweet name that doesn't get a lot of use. My favorite person with the name is Jenyne Butterfly, a champion pole dancer. You can see some of her dance on YouTube - it's not strippery or anything like that. I don't particularly love the spelling Jenyne, but I always think of this gorgeous butterfly of a dancer when I hear the name. :)

Lol, I love you reaction of not thinking it was real. What did you find sooo terrible about it? I don't love it, but it's okay. I know a Janina and I like that a bit better.

Not sure. I think because it was sort of dated sounding and ugly? and I'd never heard it? I don't think that at all anymore.Janine's best friend in middle school was named Siobhan. I only knew Janine via internet, and I'd never heard of anyone named Siobhan before, so I cracked up when I first saw her name. And then months later I finally asked her how it was pronounced, and when Janine said it was like Chevonne I couldn't stop laughing for probably five minutes or more.

I never thought it was THAT bad. NMS, but not a terrible name.To be honest, I hardly ever notice it. It's just sort of *there*.

It's pretty nice.
I knew one Jeannine growing up, and one Janine, and I liked the Jeannine spelling better. Now I'm not sure which spelling I prefer.

As indicated by my post just below, this is the name of one of my nieces. When I first heard it, I was rather surprised, because it does have a dated feel. Then again, it was never really popular, so it's not dated the same way that other names are, that were mega-popular at one time.I'd never given the name a moment's thought before my sister chose it for her daughter, but I know that I never would have thought it "bad". As it is, I think it's rather cute, and---dare I say it?----yes, I do!----refreshing.My sister's two older daughters are from her first marriage, and the two younger are from her second marriage. When it came to naming the older two, Mara and Brenna, she was very picky, and wouldn't agree to anything that her husband liked but she didn't. When it came to the younger two, when she had a different husband, it was way different. He suggested both names, Kaylen and Janine, and the fact that he liked them was good for enough for my sister.
