[Opinions] Niobe and Jessamine
Saw these very rare names mentioned on nameberry's blog. I LOVE super uncommon names and less that twenty babies are named Jessamine or Niobe each year.Ny-oh-bee

I'm not sure about Niobe, but Jessamine is a character in the Mortal Instruments Series. She is a little on the sour side of things. I'm not sure if the name was created for the book or not. But it is pretty, as is Niobe.

I think you mean the Infernal Devices series. Jessamine wasn't created for the series. Those books have only been out a couple years, but the name is older than that. If you read the comments for Jessamine, the first one was written in 2006.

It's been in use as a given name since at least the 1600s. It may have originally been unisex: I just found a will for a 'mariner second mate' named Jessamine who died in 1771.

Yes, that's why I said I wasn't sure. Regardless, Nice names. :)

I like both. I'm not sure I would use them, but I think they are very interesting names.

Love them... but then rare names are good names for my middle name storage spot.
