[Opinions] Roy
Roy is the only boys name we can really agree on. What do you think of it?

Aw. I just met the sweetest 72 year old Roy the other day. Seeing names reborn makes me very happy. :-)And if you both love it, then why would you not use it?

I like it, I immediately think of the film "Rob Roy", in which Liam Neeson starred as Rob Roy.If you think Roy is a little bit too "simple" on its own, you could always use Fitzroy or Gilroy and use Roy as an abbreviation. Elroy, Delroy and Leroy also come to mind, but I find those a little bit "cheap" - I prefer Fitzroy and Gilroy, as those seem more dignified.

My daddy's name and one of his friend's names so I see it as kind of dated but not in a bad way. It could make a comeback. Because it is my dad's name I plan on using it for a boy's middle name someday but if it wasn't my dad's name I probably wouldn't use it but that's because I usually like longer names. If you guys like it, there's nothing wrong with it, so I don't see why not use it.

Sounds fine to me. If you both like it, then I see no reason not to use it.

My husband is a big fan of Roy 1) he likes the meaning 2) he has a very romanticized view of some American things like westerns and the '50s, and it's all American feeling seems to capture that. I can't see ever using it but I can see it making a comeback, I think I like Royce better though. If you both like it then I say why not?

Funny, it feels very English/Irish/Scottish to me! Maybe because I associate it with Roy from the It Crowd. :P
