Help[Opinions] Jessie, Jessica or Jessamine (m)
Answer in the subject line, please, and tell me why in the message.
Again I thought about Jessie which is one of my favorite names at the moment. I narrowed it down a bit to three names I could see myself using. My favorite is still Jessie by itself, but I guess that could change.
I always liked Jessamine and it is really growing on me. The good thing is that it's uncommon. I pronounce it JESS-ah-minn. I'm worried about it getting confused with Jasmine and about people saying JESS-ah-mine or JESS-ah-meen.
Jessica is growing on me. Almost all of the Jessicas I've known were called Jess so the full name doesn't sound dated to me but I guess it does to most people.
Jessie is friendly and my favorite but nickname-ish and several people have told me that a child deserves a full name (I disagree with that, I would give her a classic middle name that she could use if she ever felt that her first name was too nickname-ish)
So all of these names have their advantages/disadvantages and I'm just wondering if you can think of more.

I've pretty much ruled out all of the other Jess-names (Jessa, Jessamy, Jessenia), so no need to suggest them ;)

Jessica and Jessamine are nice. Jessie feels incomplete on its own. The main Jess names I like are these 2 and Jessilyn, so I can understand the others being ruled out- esp. Jessamy... sounds kinda wierd. I think Jessamine feels just a little more interesting than Jessica.

Jessica is nice, but somewhat dated and was way too popular at it's peak for my tastes. Needs a break.
Jessamine would probably get mispronunciations (I said it "JESS-ah-meen" at first.) But I like the name enough that it would not deter me from using it. I would most want to be called Jessamine, personally. And I like the option of Minnie as a nickname.

There are several of them in my family tree, not short for anything. It sounds fine as a full name to me and I'd definitely pick it over the other two - I've always liked it, and Jess. It's a rich bottle-green colour for me, slightly iridescent.

I see nothing wrong with using it as long as you do provide a full, classic mn,as in the vintage name-era English actress Jessie Margaret Matthews.
But when she asks you what it means I'd be tempted to make it a version of Jean, like the Scots do, rather than a truncated Jessamine or Jessica, which might make her feel cheated of the full version.
Jessamine is less common than Jessica but sounds a tad twee; you could spell it like Jessamyn West to stress the pronunciation. Jessica is widely used but it's become a classic, and would probably be shortened by her friends to Jess rather than Jessie. Jessica is my second choice, but Jessie marks her as an individual from the beginning, and not just yet another Jessica trying to find an identity that distinguishes her from namesakes

Jessica: cool colors, also light gray, blue, and purple like a fog or mist. Reminds me of my cousin Jessica (Jess) and Jessica from "Dune". Makes me think of a tall, pale person with dark brown hair who is very mature and 'cool' (as in calm, collected, etc). Then again I could also picture it on a lot of different people... meh.
Jessica's parents might be fairly conventional (but also might not considering Jessica isn't actually super popular right now). Jessie's parents would be similar but probably a little younger.

Jessamine! It's gorgeous, and has history while still working in a modern world. Jessie works easily as nickname, but if she ever wants a less common name, it wouldn't require a whole lot of effort, just a few reminders to people that she prefers her full name now. And I think the people pronouncing it -meen will be in the minority. Also, Jasmine (for me, at least) has much more of a zzz sound in it.
I don't know why, but Jessamine reminds me of dark green ivy climbing up a high stone wall. Quite a romantic name, and classic while underused. I guess what I mean by that is that it would be difficult to date a Jessamine to an era in the past eighty-odd years, unlike Susan or Florence. I would think the parents were quite bookish (in a good way, obviously), maybe one of them teaches/studies history or literature or something.
