I don't think it's dated, and I used to like it, but I've soured on it now. Perhaps I associate it too strongly with Jared jewelry stores and their aggravating "He went to Jared!!!" commercials these days.
It's one of those names I'd be neutral toward on someone else's kid, but would reject out of hand if my boyfriend suggested it for a son of ours.
