[Facts] Baby name that works in Farsi and Portuguese
Hello,
Anyone know of boys or girls names that work in both Farsi (can be Arabic origin) and Portuguese?
We came up with Lila or Liliana, and Esther/ Estella. Does any one know a website that would have a way to search for this? Thank you,
Andrea

How about Iasmin, Portuguese and Brazilian variant of Jasmine? So far I did not see it used as a given name in Farsi (however check the Jasmine entry here who gives a variant), but the common word for the flower has Old Persian roots.

By doing a quick search, here are names that exist in both languages:Ava
Darya / Dária
Fatimeh / Fátima
Haideh / Haidé
Jamileh / Jamila
Leila
Roxana
Salomeh/Salomé
Sara
Soraya / Soraia
Tina
Vanda
Vida
Zahra / ZaraArabic / Portuguese
Aida
Lina
Nadiyya / Nádia
Raisa / RaíssaI would only avoid Azar (means "bad luck" in PT) and anything starting with "parva" (means "stupid" in PT). I'm not familiar with the farsi language, but you can't go wrong by picking something simple and straightforward like Ema, Eva, Maria, Ana, Rita, or Sofia.
