____________________DS: William John "Liam" (blue, light brown), 10The last four years have been extremely hectic for the family. Earlier this year, I found out that there was a tumor in my head. Luckily, it was benign and I had an operation to have it removed (I had to have all of my hair shaved off first!) I am thankfully doing very well now. Unfortunately, Emily was laid off at the hospital (she's a nurse; the administration needed to make budget cuts). She hasn't found another job yet. Because our income isn't as much as it was before, we had to move to a smaller house. The kids don't seem to mind; Liam is still at the same school as all of his friends, and all of the older kids have moved out.On the brighter side, Gabriel is thisclose to graduating from college. He already has a well-paying job lined up for him at a prestigious architectural firm in the city. He and his longtime girlfriend Rachel married three years ago; we couldn't be happier for the two of them! Plus, they gave us our first grandchildren: Kayla, who has light brown hair and her mom's green eyes, is now three, and Brody, who is the spitting image of his father, just turned one.Alec is now twenty-one and finally on his own. He decided not to join Cirque du Soleil (thank God!) but still didn't want to go the conventional route and attend college. Instead, he is doing what he does best: sports (namely soccer). In fact, he just signed a three-year contract with the New England Revolution. Their scouts had seen him play in high school and had been very impressed with his skill. The only downside to his career is that it requires him to be on the road for long periods of time. We don't really get to see him as much as we'd like to. Alec and Melisande broke up a while ago; he doesn't like to talk about it, but we got the feeling that it was because she was seeing someone else. Anyway, he met a girl, Rebecca Harper Ludlow (20), who goes by Becky, and they've been dating for two months. They seem very happy with each other.Madison, now seventeen, plans on going to college in the fall. She's been accepted to Juilliard; we're so proud of her! She doesn't know yet if she wants to major in music or theater (she landed a few gigs when she decided to try acting a few years ago and loved it). She's a little nervous about being around so many people of equal or greater skill than she, but she's really more excited than afraid. She isn't seeing anyone at the moment, but she recently adopted an eight-week-old golden retriever from the shelter. She named him Logan.Reagan, also seventeen, is probably the child that has puzzled us the most. Right after graduation from high school, she married Finlay Seth Garrison "Finn" (23), whom she had only been seeing for three months! Of course, we didn't approve, given their ages, but he does love her and provides for her well. Currently, Finn is in medical school and hopes to become a surgeon. Reagan doesn't really have plans to get a job any time soon, but we hope she rethinks her stance on this matter.Liam is now ten and in the sixth grade. He has definitely changed over the past four years. He is no longer hyperactive, and he doesn't solve problems with his fists. In fact, he does very well in school and is quite popular among his peers. However, he isn't as academically or athletically inclined as his older siblings. He says that even though he's good in school, he's just not interested in it. The same thing goes for sports: he's naturally talented, but he doesn't want to play. His passion is for cars. He knows more about them than I do! His favorite movie is The Fast and the Furious. He says that when he grows up, he wants to be rich so that he can buy any car he wants.
