Enid. Even with the song.
It's a lot cooler, imo. And there are few names I like that end with 'th'.

I've always loved the -th sound at the end of names (Gwyneth, Lilith, etc). In the case of Edith, it seems to sound the long E at the start of the name. I think Edith is so lovely.

Edith today, but it could be Enid tomorrow. I think Enid has more snap and spunk to it, but Edith is more elegant, and has a more distinguished feel.

I think both are lovely names, but for me it would have to be Edith, as I LOVE the name Edie.

I've always liked it, and it's one of Mr Pie's favourites for family reasons. (Edith Marion and Edith Frances were combos we liked) But Enid is nice too.

Why don't we have both?
I like them both a lot. It's really hard for me to pick.
I guess, Edith, simply because I can see a lot more people with the name, where Enid is a pretty specific personality/look.

If you are planning to use only the full name, i'd say Enid. If you want the possibility of a nickname, I'd say Edith and call her Edie.

I really like both, but I prefer Enid because of its sound and meaning.
Edith lends itself to Edie, which I think is cute. Enid is a bit harder as far as nicknames go, but it's short enough that it doesn't necessarily need one. If I named a daughter Enid, I might call her E here and there.

Oddly enough, Edith is used now and then in my area, (French-speaking), in spite of the difficulity EVERYONE has in saying the "th" sound. So it's Edit. (Ee-dit.)

That reminds me of how my preschooler kept mispronouncing Edith after seeing Despicable Me: Eat it.

Ee-dit is how fictional New Yorker Archie Bunker said his wife's name. That's why every time I see Edith written out, I think, "Ee-dit." Then I think of a dingbat. Which is why I'm not overly fond of Edith. But I wasn't going to say so initially, because I think that associations can get tiresome and out-of-hand.

That's a tough one. I love Edie. But Enid is so adorably simple and has a lovely meaning.
I think I'd have to pick Enid. Because Edith sounds a bit more like a cranky old lady who disapproves of my sinful ways. I'd love to have a friend named Enid. It's poetry.
Hey what about Enid Alexandra as a combo. It's so Sweet Valley. That's the first place I saw the name Enid. :)

Edith seems as classic as Elizabeth or Dorothy to me, but Enid seems antique. Edith seems graceful at all ages, to me, while Enid always sounds like a crone, sort of shrewd and tough - and I find it hard to name a baby daughter names that are all crone. Also I think Enid sounds like a type of insect or worm. I'm assuming it's pronounced EN-id, but if it's pronounced EEN-id I think it sounds way too much like a type of insect, maybe a larva. Weird.

Honestly, neither have I. But I am really just that boggled, that you could like it if it were pronounced EEN-id. I can only imagine anyone thinking it was nice if it were EN-id. I think Enid (EEN-id to me, too) is quite awful. Something about the way my nose closes when I make the sounds.

Thanks! I have this "vision" I'm trying to stick to and it has me a bit restrained at the moment. I only have three: Enid Lily, Enid Iris & Enid Romilly.
