Do you think Bella needs a full name? I don't because it's also an Italian word and doesn't sound cutesy. Anyway, I liked Annabella for a while and wonder whether people prefer Annabella nn Bella or just Bella. Both names have very different colors and images, and I like the ones of Bella better.

Isabella isn't really an option, I never cared for it much. I like Belle and Annabel but wouldn't really use Bella as a nickname for either. If I had a Belle or Annabel I'd just call them by their full names.

Anabella maybe looks a little less heavy and more elegant than Annabella. But also more incomplete. Opinions?

Bella is very popular both as a full name and a nickname. Personally I can't stand it no matter how it's used, I don't even like it on a dog, and it's very popular on dogs too.

Annabella reminds me of that awful eighties song by Bow Wow Wow, lead singer Annabella, "I Want Candy."

I find Bella to be too cutesy and flimsy. It's definitely lacking on its own. It's better as a nickname for Annabella.

I prefer Annabel / Annabelle to Annabella. Annabella is too frilly for me, but it's not a bad name.

I prefer Annabella to Bella, and Annabelle to either of them, and Annabel the most, but I don't think that Bella needs a full name. You should just use Bella if that's what you prefer.

Bella is fine alone.
I like Arabella and Isabella but Annabella is a tad too sugary for my taste.

My sister's dog is Bella and it's not short for anything. :p
Srsly, it's perfectly fine on its own - as you said, it's an Italian word, and imo it's infinitely better than clunky Annabella.

I prefer Annabel - Annabella is just a bit too frilly. As for Bella, I find it a bit too cutesey to be used as a full name.

Of all the ones you mentioned, I'd go for Annabel called by her full name.

Bella's ok on its own, though Asian ESL students are the group that first come to mind when it comes to picturing that name on anyone.
Annabella feels a little too frilly for my liking.

Really? I worked with Asia ESL students and they are usually called Lily or Amy :P Something cute that ends in an -ee sound :)

May have changed over the years... Encountered a couple Taiwanese gals who chose Fancy... Did know a Bella or 2... a Christine... Taiwanese often choose things like Daniel, Matthew or Christopher for boys.
My parents had a Taiwanese guy who went by David and a gal who went by Eleanor. I recall a Gloria or 2 from HK. Most Jpns. go by their real name, so when I did most of my ESL related stuff in the west was back in the 90s.

I don't think Bella needs a full name, but Annabella makes a nice full name if you do want one. Annabella looks so much nicer to me and so much more complete than Anabella. All in all I prefer just Bella.

I agree with everything you say really!

Anabella does look less heavy, but also looks as though an "n" is missing.

I'd go with Bella as a full name, especially if she's always going to be called that.

Bella is best just on its own.

I really dislike Annabella no matter how it's spelled. It's everything I hate about Annabelle, only more.

I think Bella is a stand alone name and I prefer just Bella to Annabella. I like Annabel/Annabelle, but that a on the end just doesn't do it for me. If you like Bella I'd just go with Bella.
