It's one of my favorites on my "short" list. Love it!

I like it, but you have to be able to say the "H".
It's used occasionally where I live (French-speaking area, for those unfamiliar), but always pronounced "Ugo". Waste of a good name, is what I say.Same with Hector. Always said as "Ector".

I love Hugo, it's so handsome. It's very uncommon where I live but it's still recognisable and easy to pronounce. I agree with this post about pronouncing the H, I know a Hugo whose name is pronounced Ugo (he's Colombian) and it isn't that pleasant a sound.

Used to hate it, but now I really like it. I don't know that I'd use it, but I do like it.

I like it much better than Hugh (which has pronunciation issues where I live).DH's family had a tradition of naming the first son H-name + Daniel and calling him Daniel or some nickname for it - Danny, Dan and Manny spring to mind. I would like either Hugo Daniel or Daniel Hugo, in both cases using the first name as the name of daily use.

I really liked it as a teenager. Now I feel it's a little too 'in the open'. It's in the Top 100 in Australia. (Not by much, though). I don't know, hearing about one young child in my area called Hugo is enough to put me off. Others might not be so picky, and all the more power to them.At any rate, it has an excellent sound.
