I used to really like it, as sort of a GP, in the 80s/90s. I still like it. After Cristina, Christa is probably my second favorite Chris name.
Christa McAuliffe... died in Challenger accident.
The name was really common in my generation (born 70s). I don't think it is "too" dated to use. It was a GP because in my personal experience, it and the other Chris/Kris names were the typical names for girls who were several shades more goody-two-well-heeled-shoes than myself. I like Christa a tiny bit better than Krista. The K makes it less snooty, and makes it not have Christ in it. I just like the crunchy-ice-cream feeling of the ch and st together.
