[Opinions] Franz
I had a dream last night, and I don't remember what I was naming, but Franz just presented itself to me as the perfect little name.So I'm sitting here thinking... "... Huh!"What would be your impression of a Franz?

Franz is about the same image as Francis, and as likeable. I agree that it's sort of a "perfect little name" ... I can tell you what I think it's not. It's sort of like Bernard only not as dorky, dated, or difficult. It's sort of like Jack, only not as alpha extrovert yuppie. It's sort of like Rowan, only more classic and clearly masculine. And it's sort of like Liam or Ambrose, only not Brit-chic or anti-butch.Only thing about it is that it's distinctively German, and so it has the potential issues that almost all distinctively-something rare names have for Americans. (Which aren't big issues, but would matter for me because my married last name is a lot like Franz. Franz Mylastname would be more than distinctive, it'd be funny. However I googled it and there are some people with that name!) Anyway, I like Francis better because it's more familiar and I feel like I can say it right for sure. Franz could either rhyme "plans," or approximately rhyme "lawns," and I would not be sure which to say.

Awww, I love Franz! And Schubert makes it 1000x better. If I met a little Franz, I'd just be sitting there going "awwwwwwww!"

I used to did not like it at all... but lately it's growing more and more on me.I know two Franz from Germany. One is his 50's i used to work with him - very sweet and funny guy... the other 30's - i dont know him that well (he's a friend's friend) but he was also very sweet and funny... and handsome too ;)
I just looked up the name statistic in germany for franz:ranked 141 for 2011

If I met a little Franz, I would have an overwhelming urge to dress him in lederhosen and make him strudel.

It was my great-grandfather's nickname (his full name was Franjo) and I pronounce it the German way. It's quite dated here and the only ones I know are over 70, so that's what I associate it with.

I'm extremely fond of Franz. My impression is that it is very eccentric in a good way, very orange. To me, it also suggests a voluminous hairstyle. I also think of the Muppets.
