I worked with a girl who named her two sons Brooklyn and Boston. She wasn't a sports person at all, so I don't think she knew they were mortal enemies.

no, but...In Oklahoma, there is a college sports stadium named after a legendary coach whose name was Okla. I cannot remember the last name to save my life, but Okla had an identical twin brother named Homa. Also, my mother had a friend when she was little whose name was Penny. Penny had a baby sister named Candy. Penny Candy. Their dad even named his little fishing boat Penny Candy.

Penny Candy would be a cute name for characters in a children's book. But, just that! :)

Nope... I find that odd though.

There were a few Bretts here after Farve, but that's as far as we go here- the players' names. For the most part, if you use a favorite player's first name, people just assume you like the name, not "Oh, my God. You're honoring Aaron Rodgers!" (ex., I'm in Wisconsin) Boston and Bruin--- no.

I don't know anyone named after a team or athlete, but I once had a coworker with a son named Slam. Slam's dad was a huge basketball fan and named him after the slam dunk.
