Help[Opinions] Riley
For a while I have really liked Riley for a girl but I am aware that many people see it as 'stealing a boys name', while this does not put me off the name it is making me consider the spelling. Would Ryleigh be deemed 'too creative' and have a worse stigma attached than if I stuck with Riley. Ryleigh is the only other spelling I would entertain though I really do love Riley...

I also prefer the name for a girl and would only use the Riley spelling. It's just the nicest and other versions look tacky imo.

Stick with Riley. You can't steal a name, just use it on a girl if you like it!

Riley is a lovely handsome boys name. Its super popular in Australia for boys, every time I get a girl Riley its always spelt horrendously and its always difficult to spell and the kid or parent always gets really annoyed that no one can spell their stupidly spelt name.

Personally i'm one of those people who see Riley as more of a boys name and dont like boys names in general given to girls, BUT i think its important to use names you love.
Ryleigh is way worse to me than Riley. Rylie or Rylee could work.
I was actually wondering the other day how about adding to Riley?, like Riliana/Ryliana (ry-lee-anna, Riley and Anna) nn Riley/Rylie. Would combining Riley with another name ruin the name for you?
Anyway, my other thought here is Riley needs a girly feminine middle name.

I'm going to be honest here. It's not about the "stealing a boys name" thing.
My cat is named Riley. My mom came up with it because she kept saying, "He has the life of Riley," which is apparently some Irish saying that means he's spoiled basically, and it just stuck. I've met soooo many other pets named Riley, male and female.
I don't mind Riley that much on a guy, but on a girl I just think of a disgustingly unisex/bland name. Think about it. If you saw the name Riley, you wouldn't know if it was referring to a human or an animal let alone a male or female. Plus I just think it sounds extremely unfeminine in general.
I know it sounds harsh, but honestly, if you like the name, I think you should use it on a treasured pet, because it's really trendy right now. I've resigned a few names that I like as good pet names. For example, I'd probably use Sophie on a Cockatoo because Sophia is too popular. But cockatoos can live 80+ years, so I think that's an appropriate use of a good name.
Ryleigh does look a little more feminine, but it also looks fairly creative and trendy. I wouldn't use it personally because I don't think it will age well, but it's not terrible. I'd prefer it to a female Riley.

I really do prefer Riley... I think I would stick with it - even if someone might get confused about gender I think it's better than the judging one would do on a 'creative' name.

Ryleigh does look more girlish, but in pronunciation they're exactly the same so I don't see the point in using a spelling that looks so soap-opera/teen drama.
I can't stand the name Riley on either sex. It's so white-bread and ambisexual it has no character at all. And also it seems to be very popular as a dog's name, like Bailey.

I would just use Riley. I think it's fine for a girl, even cute.
Who cares what other people think? I like a lot of names that get trashed on here, but it doesn't stop me from liking them. Do what ya wanna do.

Well seeing as Riley is a family name I would keep it to that. I would personally use it on a boy however
