[Opinions] Mare (f) and Tracy (m)
two names I've been crushing on hard lately. Opinions? Would love some combo suggestions too. I'm currently contemplating Mare Fiona, Mare Constance and Mare Marjorie, with the latter two honoring. And for Tracy, I don't know, something obviously masculine - Tracy Jonathan maybe?

From the way you paired it, I assume you're saying Mare like actress, Mare Winingham, rather than "MAH-re". It's nice both ways, but I prefer "Mare" to rhyme with "care". Tracy is alright; like it better as a masculine name than feminine, but prefer Trace. I'm loving Mare Constance, especially since it's honoring, and Mare Fiona is lovely too; I hesitate to suggest any other ideas. :)Mare Athena

Yes, Mare pronounced like "care." Thanks for all the suggestions! I really like Mare Athena,
Mare Diantha,
Mare Theodora - I actually wrote down Mare Theodora early when I was playing with combos! though I admittedly like the way the names look/feel together more than they actually sound together)Tracy Benjamin - Wow, I really love this and I am not normally a fan of Benjamin, at all
Tracy Donovan
Tracy Owen

Mare as in a female horse? I would have to say no to that in real life, but I love the sound and hypothetically think it's awesome. I love all the combos, Mare Fiona is especially gorgeous.Tracy is okay, I don't have any strong feelings on it either way, for either gender. It's sort of country-western feeling, so not sure if Jonathan goes well with it. But I'd agree something obviously masculine would be best.

Well, I think of it as a name first (sort of medieval sounding to me) but I actually like the female horse thing; I've always loved horses :)

I've just never heard of it as a name. It's very random noun-y. But yes, I like the horse thing too, just to think of it in real life it would seem silly to me.

My only reference is Mare Winningham but without her as a forbearer it would likely be more "nouny" to me too

My Uncle's name is Tracey John.

Sorry but Mare is an insult that my mother uses for me, and everyone, it's a female horse and although I like horses it will also be an insult to me. I dislike Tracy for either gender because of personal reasons - maybe as a middle name instead? - I think a male Tracy would get bullied as would a Mare.

Mare really doesn't work for me. As well as meaning a female horse, it's used as an insult, sometimes in a jokey way, but not always. I think it's inviting insults, like using Cow as a first name. Also people use it as short for nightmare. But as a sound, I can see why it could work.
