[Opinions] Shawna
Replies
I'm not fond of Shawna or Shauna. I almost always dislike girls names when they sound too similar to the boys name they are the female version of. Shawna / Shauna is one of those names, it just screams Shawn / Shaun.
I prefer Mildred to Shawna.
Shawna is very dated but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It makes me think of iconic 70's things and that is not a bad association.
I've met a few Shawna's before but they were all born around the 70's.
I think I personally prefer the spelling Shauna over Shawna. Seana is odd, I'm not certain how I feel about it. It doesn't remind me of the 70's like the other spellings do.
The thing I dislike the most about Shawna is like I said, it just feels like Shawn with an A thrown on at the last moment.

I've always liked Shawna. It's pretty dated, but in a good way to me. Like it makes me think of a smiling, upbeat, friendly, athletic person.
When I was a kid my aunt's best friend/neighbor (my aunt being 9 years older than me) was named Shawna, so I always saw it as a "cool older kid" name. I also went to high school with at least one, and was friends with her. Not sure I've ever met a Shauna or Seana though.

I knew a Shawna when I was little, and even then I really disliked it. I still feel the same, but now it feels dated too. I do know what you mean about finding names that are so ugly they sort of mesmerize you (your Mildred, my Olga), but for me Shawna isn't one of them. Could I entice you toward pretty, neglected Sonia instead?
I don't like the "aw" in Shawna, so Shauna does look marginally better to me. Seana looks best of all, but I bet you it would be pronounced like see-AH-na more often than not.

I have a cousin named Shawna Rae. She's a couple years younger than me.
The name definitely seems dated. It wasn't popular for very long at all and it does have a fairly downmarket image.
I don't think it's very attractive, but I don't think it's ugly/appealing in the same way you think Mildred is. Actually, if I think a name is ugly, it isn't appealing to me.
