I also think that the fact that they rhyme is kind of a bad idea. They won't be children forever.

I haven't heard of the liqueur, but then again I'm that one person who permanently lives under the proverbial rock. That so many people on here immediately thought "Ah! Like the drink!", however, would be a good enough reason for me to rule one of the names out.

My first thought on the other hand was "Isn't 'tia' the Spanish word for 'aunt'?".
Maria I perceive as a solid, traditional Spanish girls' name (among others. I know that it's a very international name).
So when I see or hear Tia and Maria so close together - as it's often the case with twins, especially with twins -, Tia sort of loses its "name character" or "name-y feel". Then all I get is "Aunt Maria".
You know, if heard someone calling across the playground "Tia, Maria! Come here!", I'd translate it in my head to "Auntie Maria! Come here!". (And I don't even speak Spanish.)
I realize that this a rather silly reason and it's probably just me, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

I think it's a very bad idea. it sounds like they are named after the drink, and even so, Tia and Maria sound very similar, so it would be confusing anyway.

I've never heard of the drink, but it seems like a lot of people on here have, so the two names together doesn't seem like such a good idea. I love Maria, though - one of my favorites.
