I came across this name in Germany, but it is certainly not German. It seems to be known of in Greece, but I haven't been able to find it's meaning / origin / history.

Otherwise I have found the site to be very accurate with name etymologies, histories, etc. Though sometimes their pronunciation guides aren't very clear.
I think one of the nicknames listed for Asimina, "Asimw", may be a typo.
