What do you think of Elise?
1) Would you consider it honoring to use Elise when most of your female family members have variants of Elizabeth as their first name? Or does it have to be the exact same name? My middle name is Elsa and it's also my mom's and grandma's name. My great grandma was named a similar variant of Elizabeth and there are also other family members who were named variants of Elizabeth. Elise hasn't been used yet. I'd rather use Elise because both my mom and grandma are alive and it already is confusing enough as it is, even though they go by different nicknames. I also find Elise sweeter and more elegant than Elsa, but I like Elsa as well.

4) I love Elise, but there are at least 4 names I like better so it is not that likely that I'd use it as a first name even though I might change my mind. I love Elise so much. I've loved her for years and years!
1) Yes. It sounds like the tradition in your family is using forms of Elizabeth as opposed to repeating the exact name of a previous generation. So Elise would work perfectly for that.

Melody Elise actually flows quite nicely.

I like Elise a lot, and I would consider it a good way to honor an Elizabeth. I take a liberal approach to honoring, though, and using a similar or related name--rather than the identical name--is probably my favorite way to honor. YMMV.

I don't like it at all, sorry. Not only does it repeat the EL sound, it also repeats the EE sound. I could ignore one or the other, but not both.

I've known one Elise (I think). I picture an Elise as someone who is elegant, composed, and intelligent. It's a strong name.

I actually say Elise more like eh-LEEZ so there is no double EL sound. I just realized today, when I said them out loud together. It's funny how people have such different perceptions of what sounds good, because I actually like it when syllables are repeated, I think it sounds melodic and nice. But I understand that many people might disagree which is why I asked. I was wondering if it sounded bad to some people. Thanks for answering :)

I like it, I've recently decided. It's my middle name (although it's spelled Elyse), so I've always sort of ignored it. But as a first name I think it feels rather fresh these days. It's very pastel and has a sophisticated feel.

I know several Elises. I went to high school with an Elise or two, and also went to college with an Elyse. There's also a teenage girl at my church named Alisse, pronounced the same way. And I have a friend with a 1 year old Elise.

Elise is okay.
There are a lot of people in my family with a form of Daniel, so I have an idea what you're going through. For me, even though I like the name, I'm sick of it in my family. I want to use something else. Especially since we yell 'Evan Daniel' at my nephew a lot. One of his little (3 yr old) second cousins thinks that his full first name is Evan Daniel now, that's how much of a stinker he can be.
For honoring, if you can stick to the same name, it's better. But sometimes there's a reason for using a variation, like someone else used the original, or you're naming your daughter the Fem. var. of grandpa's name, or you are in another country and their version would work better where you plan on staying.
I kinda like Elsa better, but then my cousin has an Elsie, so both are too close for me to use.
The form of Elizabeth you use, or not using the name, is up to you. If there are names you and SO prefer over the family name, go ahead and use them. I've never seen Elise as a mn, so I don't see it as filler-ish, especially if there is a reason other than 'it sounds fine' or 'we couldn't think of anything else'.

Elise is not my favorite form of Elizabeth, but I do like it. It especially like it pronounced e-LEEZ.

I did know a girl named Elise. She was a nice, athletic girl. But she was also very serious (which conflicted a few times with my goofy, dorky traits.) So the image usually makes me think of an athlete (not that that's bad.) with a very adult-like sense of responsibility.
1) As for the honoring thing, I think it'd be honoring. It can be a diminutive, so I see nothing wrong with that.
