I like it, but prefer Allen. Probably because Alan is my brother's middle name, but Allen is my husband's middle name.

I like it, particularly Allen, though I think it's a tad forgettable and works better as a middle name (maybe I'm biased because my dad and brother share this as a middle name.)

I've always loved the name Alan since reading "Kidnapped" by R.L. Stevenson as a child. It makes me think of the character Alan Breck. You can have fun reading that book to your Alan at bedtime. :-)P.S. Alan is the only spelling I like. Allen is too much like a surname and ruins the romantic "Alan Breck" image in my mind.

I love it because of 2 wonderful young men I know with this name. I've heard people say that it is an old man name, but the Alan's I know are young and both are such happy guys with bright personalities, so that is how I picture an Alan.
I think it's one of those names that most people would just like, not love, until they say it a lot. It's manly and cute, fun and easy to say and easy to spell. I actually vastly prefer the Allen spelling because Alan looks really close to Anal when I see it written down.

Eh, I'm rather indifferent to it. I like Alen better.

I like it a lot. My next-door neighbour, and childhood friend, was named Alan. So, good associations.

It's like Ellen ... reputable, easy, forgettable.
Nothing wrong with it at all, not a shadow of anything negative - but there's no particular appeal, either, IMO.

I like it...Especially for a middle name. I do like Allen better than Alan.
