It reminds me of Joshua slurred by a drunk, so the sound doesn't appeal to me.
My reaction to its use would be more neutral than anything else. I wouldn't think anything negative, but I don't like the name enough to enjoy it. It just seems like an odd-man's Joshua to me, and it doesn't spark the same sort of "oh, c'mon...tell me you didn't" reaction that the use of Jesus (pronounced JEE-zus and used by English speakers) would.
