Help[Opinions] WDYT of Adriana?
I've started to like Adriana recently. Probably because I've liked Ariadne for a while, and Adriana seems like a more familiar and accessible alternative. What is your opinion on it? I think it seems very regal and sophisticated.
Does it make you think of the model Adriana Lima? I don't consider her a bad association, but I'd rather not choose a name that's heavily anchored to a celebrity. Please bear in mind that here in the UK it's rather uncommon.
How would you pronounce it? The common English way is ayd-ree-AN-a, but I'm also quite partial the more continental ad-ree-AN-a. To me it sounds more sexy and is somewhat less reminiscent of the Aidan bandwagon. Which do you prefer? Do you think pronouncing it ad-ree-AN-a could work in an English-speaking country or is ayd-ree-AN-a too firmly rooted?

I also prefer the ad-ree-AN-a pronunciation. Nickname her Adri. But, unfortunately, I think that most English speakers would pronounce it ayd-, which is a shame. I wouldn't want to put my daughter through that, the constant correcting.
You know what I like? Adrienna. It occured to me as a hypothetical name, and so I googled it... and it surely exists. It might be a little easier to enforce the ad-ree pronunciation with this one. Or maybe not... I can't say I'd be surprised if people still said ayd-ree-. Darn English language!

I like in the UK and here's what I think.
Adriana is a name that's cropped up a lot when I've been searching for names that i like, but I still find it difficult to get my tongue around and love Ariana / Arianne so much more. I do think it is easier said than Ariadne though.
I've no clue who Adriana Lima is, so... Yes, uncommon indeed.
I have always pronounced it as AD-ree-an-a, sorry to through a spanner in th words. But with a tweek it is practically ad-ree-AN-a. I prefer this pronunciation miles more than ayd-ree-AN-a. For me, living in the UK, I think you have no problem with using and expecting the ad-ree-AN-a way in an English speaking country.

I don't like it at all. I think of the names that end in -ana, which aren't my style to begin with, this is one of my least favorites. I think it's just the combination of the two chunks of sounds. I like Ariadne so much more. And I don't think it's too out there.
