I've always liked Eleanor, but for some reason it gets silly if you look at it for too long. First it turns to Lea and then to lean and then it's hard to take it seriously. So, if I was going to use it (and given enough daughters I might well), I'd go the Elinor route.None of the Eleanor/Elinor people I've known have used a nn. There are a couple of Nellie people in my genealogical past, but I don't know yet if some of them are Eleanor, Elinor, Ellen, Helen ... and one of them is just plain Nellie. Which I don't enjoy, but in today's world it's avoidable!
