[Opinions] Re: Australian celebrity BAs
in reply to a message by Sofia
FAMILY 1:
Madeleine - I love Madeleine! It is one of my favorites.
Shannon - I hate this on a boy or a girl. It's an ugly name in general.
Xanthe - I hate this as well.
Phoenix - super cool name. I'd like it as a MN.
Xascha - think I"m seeing a theme here with the "X" in each name. I really hate this. I don't like Sascha either.
Hendrix - cool tribute to Jimi I suppose. Would only tolerate it as a MN.
The funny thing is, I really like Bennett and West, the two surnames, and would have rather seemed the boys with those names. :)FAMILY 2:
Alex - I'm in the minority here, but I really dislike the name Alex on a boy. I much prefer Alexander as a MN or Alexis/Alexandra/Alexandria, etc. as a FN on a girl.
Melanie - it's alright. I'd never use it though. Seems pretty dated. I much prefer the Greek name Melaina.
Luke Anthony - I love Luke, especially as a NN for Lucas or Luca. I hate Anthony
Lily - love itFAMILY 3:
Jules - eh. I like Julian. Even Julius. I just prefer the Jul- names (Juliette, Julia, Juliana) on girls.
Anne - it's alright. I much prefer Anna
Indigo Ellen - don't really care for Indigo. For color names, I prefer Sienna, Violet, or even Jade. Ellen is okay, although I would LOVE Eleanor, Elena, or Helena.
Billie Elizabeth - ugh. I hate Billie, on either gender. Why not Belle or Bella? Just sounds like Hillbilly. I love Elizabeth.FAMILY 4:
Sami - I used to hate the name Samantha, but now I like it. Still hate the NN Sami though. Reminds me of Smelly Sammy.
Sam - there is absolutely nothing wrong with the name Samuel / Sam on a boy. I don't cringe when I hear it, however I have never been a fan.
Nixon Sam - of all the presidents/surnames to name your son after. I don't like the connotation, and wish they "nixed" the name. Stupid pun for a stupid name. MN Sam is a nice honor to both parents so I like that.
Avalon - love it!FAMILY 5:
Albert - NMSAA
Mtia - ?? I have no idea how to pronounce this. Is it a typo? Is it supposed to be Tia, Mia, or Maia? Hate Tia, Mia is alright, and I like Maia. If it is actually Mtia, then I really can't stand it.
Brida-Lee - I don't really get this name. Don't like it at all.FAMILY 6:
Leila - really pretty
David - like Samuel, it's a fine, classic name, but never really liked it much.
Edmund "Ted" - NMSAA
Man, I feel like a Negative Nancy! I really disliked most of these names. But, I really do love Madeleine, Luke, Lily, Avalon, Elizabeth, Leila, and Phoenix. :)

It's not a typo, her name really is Mtia. From the pictures, she's of Australian Indigenous descent, so I assume the name makes sense in one of their languages.
