[Opinions] Rowan
I've had a bit of a thing for Rowan recently. As a celtic name it's all boy, but as a nature name it's unisex to me - word names are fair game for either gender IMO. I like it on both, but prefer it on a boy. Yesterday I found out that the Rowan tree was also known as the Traveller's tree and believed to bring good luck for journeys in Celtic mythology- which is a neat connection that made me love it even more.So WDYT of Rowan? Boy, girl or unisex? How do you feel about Rowan as a brother to Xanthe?
Rowan Felix Matthias as a combo?

I only really like it for a boy. I have seen it used on a girl before, and while I think it worked okay, it's not really my personal style. For a boy, it's lovely- soft and still masculine. Plus the nature connection is a nice bonus.I think Rowan and Xanthe would be fine sibset. Rowan Felix Matthias seems a bit of a mouthful, but I guess it flows okay. I'm not a fan of Felix or Matthias, so I might be biased.

Journeys, eh? Could be a good sib for Beatrice, then, rather than for the showy Xanthe.I like it very much for a boy and not at all for a girl: that's what Rowena is for.I've always had the impression that rowan trees should be planted near one's house "because" they keep witches away. I'd plant it there because it's so beautiful; anyway, there aren't that many witches where live.

I have always liked Rowan (m). I'm so accustomed to thinking of it as masculine, that it seems mannish on girls to me. I guess I will probably encounter female Rowans around and get used to it, but it doesn't feel different from having to get used to female Ryans.Rowan and Xanthe go together well IMO.
Rowan Matthias is good, but I'm not a fan of Rowan Felix. It's vaguely phrasey ... certain middle names bring out the potential of Rowan to sound like "row, and."

I like Rowan, I prefer it on a girl but think it works for either. I think the Rowan tree also played a role in paganism, although I'm not sure what it was. I think Rowan fits well with Xanthe and I really like the combo Rowan Felix Matthias.

Rowan is a boy's name for me - Rowanne is the feminine form in my mind though I don't care for it.
Gotta say I've met a little five year old boy called Rowan recently who has rocketed my opinion of the name - he is just so cute and lovely - the name has really been lifted.
I wouldn't put Rowan and Xanthe as siblings personally. I dislike Felix a lot but Rowan Matthias is nice.

I adore Rowan! I don't mind it for both genders but I think I like it on a boy just a smidge more. I think Rowan and Xanthe make a fine sibset but I'm never particular about that. I don't believe a sibling would "feel left out" like some people on this board do. I guess some are more sensitive than my giant family, but still, it seems too sensitive to me.I dislike two middle names. It seems clunky and pointless. I like Rowan Felix and I like Rowan Matthias but not Rowan Felix Matthias. Even if I didn't hate double middle names, I still wouldn't like it because it doesn't flow. With Rowan I think it's important for there to be flow.

Yeah, Rowan is really nice. And that meaning is pretty sweet! I think I prefer both Ronan and Roman, but really, all three have great sound. I'd pick boy. But I wouldn't be horrified i it was on a girl.Rowan and Xanthe feels fine to me.Rowan Felix Matthias ...while I enjoy all three names, it doesn't really roll off the tongue. I'd work on that a bit yet.
