I think that Betty as a full name is a waste. Nicknames for Elizabeth come and go, and it seems over-controlling to restrict a girl to just one nn and not the full form.

I don't mind Betty - the ones I know are very nice - but I'm not sure the world is ready for a wave of Betty people. And I must admit, I much prefer Betsy!

It's grown on me too recently and it defintely works on an adult as well as on a child, still I don't really like the idea of a nn used as a full name.

I prefer Betsy to Betty. Betty reminds me of "batty" and seems older to me in a less positive way. Betsy, to my ears, is livelier and more ready for a comeback.
