I much prefer Diana - it's classic, and timeless (I similarly prefer Julia to Julie, though I find Julie prettier than Diane). I find the lack of babies named in honour of (or whose parents were inspired by) Princess Diana really curious.
I had a roommate called Dianne - I loathe that spelling.
