I know of a Melissa Dorothy (and her twin, Phoebe Edna). Dorothy is by far my favourite of the four, and even cheers up Melissa!Dorothy Jane is lovely and very useable. There's an actress here in South Africa called Dorothy-Anne; she goes by both, professionally at least. And some people here combine Dorothy and Anne (or Dorothea and Anna if they're Afrikaans) to make Dorianne. Just a thought!

I'm not the biggest fan of the name Dorothy. The first association I made when reading your post was of Dorothy from the Golden Girls. However, I do love the name Jane. I think it is absolutely charming.

Dorothy seems to keep coming up around here. I love it. I have a very positive association and I think the name is just great - plus Dot/Dottie is an adorable nickname. Not a big Jane fan. If I could tweak the combo...
Dorothy Janae
Dorothy June
Dorothy Jean

I hate this name. I've known a woman named Dorothy my whole life and she's loud, stirs up drama, holds grudges against people she wronged, sticks her nose in other people's business for the sole purpose of airing their dirty laundry, and looks down on anyone who doesn't agree with her narrow minded views 100%. Plus, I hate the name's sound. Dorothy Jane is not perfect. Dorothy should never be used again (okay, my single-minded wish but whatever) but I really like Jane. My mom always says plain Jane when I talk about it, but I like it a lot. Jane Lane was great!

Dorothy was my maternal grandmother's name. I used to dislike it, but my grandmother was such an extraordinary person, and I've been warming to it recently as a middle name. I adore Jane. Dorothy Jane is nice. I'd personally consider using Jane Dorothy.

I'm not over-fond of Dorothy but it fits in with today's naming trends and I like Jane with it very much. It puts me in mind of the Milly-Molly-Mandy era. I also like Anthea Jane, Cordelia Jane, Miranda Jane, Philippa Jane.

I would never want to use Dorothy or be named it, but it is more than a little bit cute. Hate hate hate the name Jane and think it drags Dorothy down. Dorothy Jean?

Dorothy Jean is my grandma's name. I agree that Jean sounds better than Jane with Dorothy.
