Too much? I kind of like it. I didn't think it would work in real life because it's so long and flowery but I met one today and it worked really well on her. I also like Violet.

Do you prefer Violet or Violetta? Is Violet too trendy?

Do you like Viola? Do you pronounce it VY-o-la or vee-O-la?

Could you rate/rank or comment on them? Favorite? Least favorite?

I pronounce Violetta as vee-o-LET-ah but when I say it quickly it sounds more like vyo-LET-ah, kind of like VY-o-let sounds like VY-let when you say it quickly.

I quite like Violetta.It's useable. I like it better than Violet, which I'm not fond of.Perhaps because I, and many people, would pronounce it Vi'lt. And the nick-name would invariably be Vi.

Viola? I've only known one, she pronounced it VY-o-la.

It's definitely frilly, but I like it. I do prefer the simpler Violet, though. I don't think Violet qualifies as trendy- I haven't met one yet, and I work with kids. I don't care for the way Viola sounds (I say "vee-O-la.")

I love it! I think it would work fine in real life. I prefer Violetta to Violet - I wouldn't call Violet trendy, but it's getting there. I don't really care for Viola, since I don't like the sound and it feels to me more of a musical instrument than a name (but I'm biased, I play viola). I pronounce it vee-O-la.

Violetta sounds frillier than Violet, but not so frilly that it's annoyingly sweet.

I pronounce Viola as vie OH lah, and Violetta as vee oh LET ah.

I don't have a favorite of the three, but I know a Viola or two, so it could be honoring if I were to use it. They are my grandma's generation.

Hmm. Violetta is too much. Maybe on a really romantic character but for a person I just think it's too frilly. I like Violet.

Much prefer Violet. It's certainly popular and I'm aware of that but at the same time I don't think I've actually ever met a Violet. Granted, I haven't had much contact with kids recently, but whatever.

I've tried to make myself like Viola but I just can't do it. The Shakespeare connection is great (and I loved the character) but at the end of the day I just don't like it. VY-o-la is how I pronounce it.

I pronounce it VY-OH-let-ta. So similar to how you say it when you say it quickly. But I think you have a French background (I could totally be wrong about that) so I understand you may pronounce things a little differently than an American? I'm not sure. I can't remember anyone's background here :P I have that problem in that I adore the name Genevieve--especially pronounced the French way. But that just would never fly here. Accent or not. :(
