[Opinions] Albion
Thoughts on Albion for a boy? Is it too much? Should I just leave it on my GP list? I figured if a lot of other place names work, then Albion might too, especially since it's not a modern place name.

name in my familyAlbion is a family name of ours. I had an ancestor whose first name was Albion, and it was my grandfather's, my father's and brother's middle names. My brother doesn't really like it, but my dad and I do! haha I think it's different - strong and soft sounding all in one. I personally wouldn't use it as a first name because I hate the nickname Al and would be afraid that people would use it. That said, if you like/don't care about Al, then I say go for it! Also, people might be more receptive to it now because of being familiar with the name Albus from Harry Potter.

I really like it! Alby (Albie) would be an adorable nickname.

It's okay, I don't think it's too much at all but the sound doesn't quite appeal to me, I much prefer Alban. That said there's nothing that keeps it in GP territory from my perspective, as I had no idea it was a place name and would therefore say that's not a mark against it.

Alban is great! and a good alternative, I agree! -

It's a GP for me too. So I'd keep it as a cool mn. Then again, Albion, nn Albie, is almost irresistable. Hmmmm . . . .

It's close to Albus, too. I found a lot of uses for Albion on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albion_(disambiguation)I think it should stay in literature/ GP lists only.

I think it could work, although it would definitely stick out. It definitely has neat imagery. It's a place in my state and there's also a college there by that name, so I think of that before I think of the old Greek usage.

It's strictly surname to me (and the name of a river ferry on the Lower Mainland of B.C.). No desire to see it used on a person.

I see nothing wrong with it.
It's a bit different from the names you usually mention around here, but does it really matter? Albion is perfectly fine, even though I personally would prefer Albus. And if you like Albion, have you considered Albin ? Or even Albert?
