I like Seren Ffion. Is Cerian a rare name or is it an alternative spelling? I used to know a Cerian and I just noticed it wasn't linked to the database. Is Iestyn popular now? I've seen it used on middle-aged men on TV recently so I wondered if it's considered dated these days or not really?

Cerian isn't used much now but it had a little popularity surge in the 80s & 90s - over 200 born since 1984, apparently.
Iestyn is more of a Welsh classic, or has been since the early 1900s. I did a chart of all the Welsh names in the UK birth data for 2010 and it came 13th, so still going strong!

I like Seren Ffion though not as much as the Eleri Gwenllian whose combo I posted the other day.
Re Elin and Elen - I prefer Elin but there's a baby called Elen next door to me and there's a member of the Welsh Assembly called Elin from same region of Wales. I assume the spelling is just a matter of personal prefernce and not rooted in some South/North Welsh divide? I've also come across Welsh girls called Elinor - very pretty; my favourite spelling of Eleanor.

Definitely personal preference, I think. I've met quite a few of both spellings.
One of my nieces is an Elinor :)

I posted a few of these the other day in the midst of a whole lot of UK ones - love them! Seren Ffion and Ivy Elen are gorgeous girls, and Morgan Henry is just stunning.
