It's cute, but a bit too cutesy and insubstantial. I prefer it as a nickname for Lucia, Lucinda, etc. As a full name, I think it's better for a pet than a person. One of my dogs is named Lucinda "Lucy." It suits her well. She's a darling.

Very cute, has definitely grown on me a lot these past couple of months. I think it is spunky and classic at the same time, and can be worn well on any age. Also, I really love the full version names of it - Lucia, Lucienne, Lucille. When you love a longer name AND its NN, it's a winning combo!

It's ok, but lacks the spunk of some of its other forms... like Lucille, Lucinda and Lucia. It also makes me think of fossil fraud because of the partial skeleton that was found and then had other things drawn in bo so-called scientists:

I love Lucy! It's always been a favourite name of mine and I'd love to use it, but it's pretty popular and my DH's cousin has a DD named Rachel Lucy, so I don't know if I'd like to use it too.

I ADORE the name Lucy. My great-grandmother was named Lucille, and I love the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by the Beatles. It is very whimsical, it is also a literary name (Chronicles of Narnia) and it just an all around great name.I have Lucy Beatrix as a combo. I also like Lucelia. You get the nicknames Lucy and Celia out of it.

I find Lucy sweet but a little boring. I prefer something with more spunk; Lucia, Lucienne, Lucinda, Lucille. But my favourite is Lucia, I love the nickname Luce as well. :)

I love it. It was my #1 girl name for a while, and it's still in my top ten.

To me it sounds loud and brash. I dislike the sound of "loosey." Lucy goosy. Most of my image of it comes from the Peanuts comic strip character, though. I've never personally met a Lucy, although I have seen the name among my daughter's peers. I guess if I met one I might dislike it less. But I still don't care for the Loose sound in names.

I've always thought this a very sweet name, with an innocent sound. I think it has a beautiful meaning as well. It's funny because I actually to a certain extent got RoxStar's impression from it as well, but I also see a smart, quirky, and ambitious woman, reflecting a Lucy that I knew in middle and high school.

I don't like it. It reminds me of 'lice' for some reason and it has an unpleasant sound.

I'm not crazy about Girls names that end in an "ee" sound. But I do think Lucy is super cute and ages well.

I like Lucy a lot. Somehow, I see her in a sibset with Molly and Henry. :-) My dh has never liked it, though.

I love it. Lucy is simple but spirited, full of youthful energy but good at any age, and it has a long, wonderful history with plenty of positive associations. That's a triple win for me. It's one of my three all-time favorite girl names. I always picture a Lucy as intelligent and perhaps a little unconventional, maybe with dark hair and a sharp tongue. Unfortunately, my OH only pictures Lucy Ricardo, so he thinks it's ditzy and "old." As if that wasn't enough, his kids and their mom adopted a dog named Lucy last year--last nail in the coffin, as far as my chances of ever having a Lucy go.

I wanted to name my Westie Lucy! I don't like it on a person.

Hate it. It sounds dumb, like somebody's poodle. I keep picturing a cookie-cutter little curly-haired blonde girl in Gymboree clothes, always showing off her ballet and her flute and her princess costumes, monopolizing every social event she goes to, always needing to be the center of attention, and her parents just let her do it because they're secretly a little guilty about leaving her with a foreign nanny most of the time.I also keep hearing the silly song "Put your shoes on, Lucy, dah-da-dah, put your shoes on Lucy, 'cause you know you're in the city. Put your shoes on, Lucy, you're a big girl now."
