Tullia grew up in Europe, specifically, Avignon in France. She was raised by both her French mother and British father, along with twelve other siblings - Armide, Faustine, Geraldine, Jules, Hugo, Miranda, Leandre, Rowena, Ottilie, Alexandrine, Victoire and Ligia.

Ezra was born to British parents in Madagascar - Africa. His father was a zoologist, his mother an anthropologist of no small reknown. He was raised by both parents up until the age of eleven, whereupon his parents divorced. He returned to England with his mother. She remarried when he was fourteen, and he did not bond with his step-father for a long time. They became friends when he started Sixth Form, and just before university, Ezra changed his surname to Greenaway, from his birth name of Ezra Cassander. He has eight siblings, only three of whom are blood relations - his older sister Brigitte, and his younger half sister, Oona, and half brother, Oscar. The other five siblings have been adopted - Zinoviy from Vladivostok in Russia, Roland from Elgin in Scotland, Nilam from New Delhi in India, Solomon from Luton and Rocio from Caracas in Venezuela.
Ezra and Tullia were childhood penpals. It was a scheme set up by their respective teachers, and the two were assigned to each other. They got along well and became lifelong friends. When Ezra went on a school trip to Avignon, they met up with some friends, and later, in a strange turn of events, they ended up going to the same university; different courses, of course. Having known each other for such a long time, they were close friends from the start of uni, and eventually started dating. They now live in London, where Ezra has lived since the age of eleven. They had been dating for just under two years before moving in together, and four years before marrying.
They have nine daughters and one son: Josephine Pandora, Rosalind Margaux, Philomene Xenia, Sidonia Fleur, Clementine Euphemia, Balthazar Ludwig, Octavia Beatrix, Penelope Jean, Hermione Delphine and Francesca Vivienne.
