It's always EZ-may in South Africa, where it's associated with an ageing population.
I like it a lot, partly for family reasons, and wouldn't hesitate to use it.
Wouldn't take any bets based on working-class English pronunciations! I met a couple once who named their daughter Fiona and pronounced it with a Fie instead of a Fee. But that needn't stop the rest of the population from getting it right.
