[Opinions] Re: Harriet vs. Hester

At first I thought your post might be about a dogfight.
I think I'd rather be Harriet, if the devil gave me this choice.
I'm kidding, they're not THAT bad. They're sturdy and dignified names. But I can only get a certain amount serious over the idea of using them.
Hester feels to me like hiss and hex and fester and Hessians and heckling. Sounds bitter and malicious.
Harriet, like hair-rats and harridan and harried - sounds pedestrian and threadbare.
I am sure that if I had ever known real people with these names, I'd have more imagination for how they might seem nice. But having lived this long without ever meeting anyone with these names, I think I've long felt that they were basically too frowzy and antiquated and just plain ugly to be usable. I imagine I'm not the only person who feels this way, so I thought I'd throw my opinion in just for balance, even though you're obviously looking for the opinions of those who think these clunkers have some appeal.
Seriously combos..
Harriet Jane, Harriet Kallisto
Hester Alexandra, Hester Dahlia
