[Opinions] Wilhelm, Nikolaus or Klaus?
I need help picking which name would work best for a brother, I've narrowed it down to these:Wilhelm Harlow (sometimes lovingly referred to as Wim, but never Will)
Anika HarlowNikolaus Harlow "Klaus"
Anika HarlowKlaus Harlow
Anika Harlow(Harlow being the last name)Do you think I should leave Anika's name as is or make it a nickname to something? Also any middle name suggestions?

Hmmm...I think Wilhelm and Anika sound nicest together, but I'm not loving Wilhelm with Harlow, I think it's a bit too much "l" and "h", and they are both two-syllable names with the stress on the first syllable, so they don't flow easily for me. That wouldn't stop me using it if I really love the name. Anika has three syllables and the sounds are different enough from Harlow that they flow alright together. Visually, Nikolaus shares "nik" with Anika and English-speakers will probably pronounce them the same way; not sure if the surname indicates an English-speaking setting. So, I would choose Klaus and Anika.

Thanks, I think you're right and I think I'll go with Klaus and Anika then. :DI guess the only think I really wonder with those two is if they should be nicknames for bigger names (hence why I considered Nikolaus...), at least for Anika, I think Klaus can stand on it's own at any age... I'm not sure about Anika though... xD

I think Klaus and Anika fit nicely.Given the surname Harlow is English I'll assume picking a name that works in English but has similar origins to the first names might apply in the middle.

I never really thought about the surname being English, but you're right, I like the idea of it bridging the gap.Anyways, I'm kinda going back and forth between Wilhelm and Klaus, as Wilhelm sticks with the original "theme" I was going for (German/Swedish forms of "traditional" English names -- Anna and William respectively) and I love the association with the brothers Grimm but at the same time doesn't fit the character as well nor do the nicknames for it.And Klaus fits better but doesn't really go with the theme (but it's familiar enough so it'd be okay) plus there are already a lot of Klaus's in fiction...Idk, sorry for rambling and thanks for the input. I definitely think I'll go with Klaus Alexander if I stick with Klaus. :)

I like Wilhelm the best. It sounds friendlier than Nikolaus and Klaus to me. While I do like Nikolaus, but I prefer it with the nickname Niko. Also, Wilhelm and Anika aren't as close as Nikolaus and Anika, which is another reason why I prefer Wilhelm and Anika.I prefer Anika as is.Combos:Wilhelm Conrad / Konrad Harlow
