I think it's fine. I don't think it has a religious feeling. Hope is a human condition, not a religious thing.

It doesn't have to have a religious feel, hope is a non-religious concept too. It would depend on the user how they interpret it I guess. I love the religious connotation, I think it's a beautiful word and a beautiful name. I went to high school with a Hope, she's the only one I've ever known.

Nah, it's not as religious as something like Charity or Faith I don't think. I sort of see Hope as one of the more hip and secular virtue names.

I'm not sure why, but I find it thoroughly depressing!

I like it, but only as a middle name. I'm generally not a fan of virtue names as first names -- they put too much pressure on the child and are kind of in-your-face to me.

I wouldn't assume a Hope or her parents were religious.

I think hope relates to anyone and everyone, not just to the religious. Would I assume parents who choose Hope to be religious? No. Do I suspect that parents who *are* religious are probably more likely than average to choose the name? Yes.

I love the name and would happily use it. I do think it has a bit of a religious vibe, though not overly so.

I don't think it has a religious feel. It's a common name and hope is a universal thing, not something I associate with religions (unlike Faith, for example).

I love Hope and don’t consider it at all religious (unlike Faith).

I wouldn't have said Hope had a particularly religious feeling. Anyone can hope, not just the religious. I used to love the combination Hope Margaret / Margaret Hope. I still do.

Hope as a name is strong, not frilly, and uses letters in the alphabet that need more of an outing than they usually get. It's very refreshing as a name. :-)

I guess it does, a bit. Especially if she has siblings named things like Grace and Faith. But just by itself, not any more than Angela or Christine do by themselves.
I'm not fond of Hope, I just don't care much for the sound. I like a couple names that mean hope in other languages, like Esperanza and Nadine.

Hmm...it doesn't have a religious feel to me as much as a hokey one. It reminds me of those mousy girls in school who wore frilly dresses with lace collars and had scary buckteeth. I don't like it.
