Gerineldo looks like it's a variant form of Gerinaldo. I am pretty sure that Gerinaldo is the Spanish form of what was originally a Germanic name. In that case, the
-aldo part of the name is derived from Germanic
wald "rule", just like it is with names such as
Geraldo and
Reinaldo. The first element of the name (the
gerin- part) would possibly be derived from Germanic
ger "spear", but I am not entirely certain of this. If it is true, however, then Gerinaldo could be considered to be a more elaborate form of
Geraldo.
