Mary is too plain and overrated.
Marie is nice, but is overrated as a middle name (My mom and a few of my aunts have Marie as a middle name).
Not too big on Maria. It's okay, but I wouldn't really use it on a future daughter.
Miriam is okay. Mariam, however, sounds too strange.
The variants of Mary I like are Molly, Marilyn, Marianne, Myra, Polly, and Maureen.
